Restful Nights
"I don't have time to sleep," complains corporate lawyer and mother-of-two Layla White. "Actually, I don’t have time to nap, either." How can you get your needed beauty rest if you simply don't have the time? Here are Five Tips for frequent – and sound – sleep.
- REGULATE your bedtime and wake-up time. If you have children, adapt to their schedules without overtaxing yourself. Rest when they rest.
- RELAX using techniques such as meditation or yoga. These give you the benefits of a nap without messing with your sleep cycles.
- INTEGRATE EXERCISE into your daily routine. Run to the grocery store; bring the kids to the pool; use part of your lunch break to go to the gym.
- LIMIT CAFFEINE INTAKE, especially in the afternoon and evening. We know it's hard, but it's wreaking havoc with your natural sleep patterns.
- 10 MINUTE TIME-OUT Every day, pause for 10 minutes and do, well, absolutely nothing. No doing, no thinking. It will help you be in tune with how you are feeling at that moment - very important for your emotional health!
